Interstellar Voyager – Metroid Title Theme

The Metroid series has long been one of my favorite series of video games, and when Metroid Dread was announced in June of 2021, I got excited. I wanted to create a cover version Hirokazu Tanaka’s theme song that evoked the idea of dread and fear – that unknown space that you find yourself in when playing a Metroid game.

I initially created this track on my iPad, but it soon became a bit unwieldy in GarageBand. I put it down for a while and when I eventually exported it out of GarageBand for iPad and brought it back to my Mac, I made some progress, but ultimately dropped it again to finish up the WaveRider EP.

It wasn’t until I actually played through Metroid Dread in December that I finally decided it was time to wrap it up and release it.

    Enjoy!

    Interstellar Voyager – WaveRider EP

After releasing Spaceflight in March, There were quite a few songs that didn’t make it onto the album. One song in particular, WaveRider was a song that was written and done within a week or two of Spaceflight’s release. I wanted to try a more Synthwave sounding song, and this is what came out.

I reworked those unfinished songs over the Spring and Summer and decided to collect them into what is now the WaveRider EP.

Feel free to listen to it above, and if you like it consider purchasing it for yourself or sharing it with a friend over on my Bandcamp page. WaveRider EP is also available on the music streaming platform of your choice.

    Interstellar Voyager – SpaceFlight

Hot off that last tortilla post (1 year later), it’s time for something completely different.

I released my first album today: SpaceFlight – under the moniker of Interstellar Voyager. For the last year, I have been making music as a way to stay creative during the pandemic. This album came about after I started making music for the podcast I co-host, Memory Protection. My co-host Josh and I wanted to add some music that reminded us of the analog synth music from the ’70s & ’80s. One particular inspiration was the music from the children’s television show The Secret City Adventures.

After creating interlude music for the podcast for almost a year, I decided to take some of what I was working on and write longer compositions around them, the first song to come out of this was Voyager, which took a long time to get to a point where it felt finished. Even though Voyager was the first song I wrote for this album, I released the first single Approaching The Vortex last July, and over the next 8 months, the other songs followed.

If you’re interested in listening, head over to my Bandcamp page and give it a listen. Spaceflight is also available on the music streaming platform of your choice.
